REVIEW: Grayson #11

Grayson #11
Written by Tom King
Art & Cover by Mikel Janin
Colours by Jeromy Cox
Letters by Carlos M. Mangual

Let’s judge this book by its cover… It’s good vs evil as Grayson faces off against a Doppelgänger on this beautifully designed cover. The faces are drawn exceptionally well. The skulls behind make it seem dark and dangerous. Very nice.

The facts are these… Dick Grayson has been exposed as Nightwing, so by Batman’s order, faked his death and went to work for Spiral a super secret spy organization.

Now if you’re sitting comfortably we can begin… Someone is wearing Dick’s face and is beating Dick’s partner for information until the real Dick shows up. Let this mirror match begin. The pair fight violently but seem to be evenly matched. Both mocking each other like school children. Before the fake Dick seems to know a little too much about the real Dick. Just as it seems the real Dock is getting the upper hand the fake Dick stops him by using visual implants that Dick has and controls his body. Dick’s partner wakes up and sees that the fact Dick is Agent 8 a woman believed death. Both Dick and his partner lie to their boss about who was behind it as Dick quits, now knowing he can be controlled he no longer wants to be part of Spiral. To be continued.

It’s drawn very well, the fighting panels are laid out well. Having just joined, the overall story is lost on me. The fight did make me laugh with Dicks smart mouth going so far as almost kissing his doppelgänger and then the doppelgänger almost kissing him. I would rather have seen Grayson as Nightwing. But it’s not a bad book.

The Good, the Bad and the Star rating…
The Good – Art is flawless and it has a few comedic moments.
The Bad – No recap means not knowing what’s what or who’s who.
The Stars – I might have been a little lost but I never lost interest. For that it’s a 3 star book for me.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
