REVIEW: The Lady Killer #3

Writer: Joëlle Jones, Jamie S. Rich
Artist: Joëlle Jones
Cover Artist: Joëlle Jones
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Genre: Action/Adventure

Start, as we mean to go on, this is a great book.

This issue opens with a soiree and situations we have all faced before.  The untethered word balloons highlight the bustle of a party, featuring friends, more than friends, social enemies and children watching in awe on the stairs.

Joelle Jones has writing and art credits with James S. Rich helping with the story. The pace of the story is a strength, with confrontations leading to further confrontations and ultimately, recognition of actions that need to be taken, if somewhat reluctantly.

The art is crisp with strong lines, helped by a muted colour scheme which seems to indicate a late 60’s era. Characters remain consistent throughout the book.

On the downside, some would say that there are elements in play similar to other stories such as The Long Kiss Goodnight. But it is the excellence of the production that has won me over.  If this is your first foray into this book, do as I have and search out the two previous issues.

Johnny "The Machine" Hughes
I am a long time comic book fan, being first introduced to Batman in the mid to late 70's. This led to a appreciation of classic artists like Neal Adams and Jim Aparo. Moving through the decades that followed, I have a working knowledge of a huge raft of characters with a fondness for old school characters like JSA and The Shadow

Currently reading a slew of Bat Books, enjoying a mini Marvel revival, and the host of The Definative Crusade and Outside the Panels whilst also appearing on No-Prize Podcast on the Undercover Capes Podcast Network
