REVIEW: Uncanny X-Men # 35

STORY BY Brian Michael Bendis
ART BY Valerio Schiti

G’Day Fellow Mutants!!

This is Dodgy86 back in the mix, bringing you an X-ellent comic book review.. Uncanny X-men by Brian Michael Bendis with art by Valero Schiti and cover art by Richard Isanove and Kris Anka.

The Introduction of this book states that Cyclops is now a mutant revolutionary leader with obscure methods in keeping Mutant/Human relations (sounds like someone else who’s extreme)! He has also inherited a new young Roster.

The story begins at a busy high school, a young girl confronting her father (the football coach) who abandoned her as a child. As the father/daughter reunion does not go to expectations, the teenager’s frustrations leader her to reveal her mutant ability and cause intense havoc on the school ground until the X-Men arrive to put an end to the school brawl!!

I gotta say this… “Golden Balls!”

Can being the newest trend on Social Media or bit hit on the Internet help the X-Men’s cause and provide the voice needed to reduce the fear and animosity towards mutant kind? Or will it lead to revealing something more sinister from those who fear them? Bendis does a great job of ask what would the public do in these instances? By blending the curiosities and technologies we use in the 21st century when our heroes are saving the day.

I gotta say it again… “Golden Balls!”

The appearance of the new X-Men roster is unique for a mainstream American comic, also their names aren’t too appealing. Some of their costumes look somewhat like they came straight from an anime or manga. On the flip-side Golden Balls is awesome! He’s a fun character, I admire the fact he’s not the typical hero looking with the body builder’s physique! Thanks to Schiti’s art I’d love to see more of him.

A decent story and if you find yourself saying “Golden Balls!” over and over.. then do ya’self a favour and pick it up!
