REVIEW

Unity Issue 9 brings us some great character moments and an epic fight scene in London that shows that this book from Valiant comics means business.

The art in this book is exquisite Segovia and Reber combine to make this book shine, every panel is a joy to read evoking the art style of Leniel Yu. Each character burst from the page, especially in the action sequences which are a joy to behold. Each punch, shot and slice lands satisfyingly as these characters are bought to life, every expression is flawless, in the quieter moments in this issue with Livewire, her uncertainty really shows and makes you feel for the character in these sequences.

Kindt really shows his talents as a writer, having really enjoyed his Marvel Knights Spider-Man mini series this book surpasses that in every way. With Livewire uncertain of even being human it is up to Ninjack and the Eternal Warrior to deal with an attack on London. Even coming into this series fresh you get a sense of what each and every character is about. Also proving that he is adept with handling a larger cast of characters Kindt ensures that each character is given a moment in the spotlight, even those that are absent in this issue are alluded to, allowing the reader to keep up to date with their movements in this shared universe whilst not allowing the issue to get bogged down in too much detail.

The bottom line is that Unity, is a great book from Valiant, any fan of the Avengers or the Justice League would be right at home with a Valiant title it delivers classic superhero action with great style and carefully crafted character moments.
