2020 UNITED STATES SUPER 8 FILM & DIGITAL VIDEO FESTIVAL

The 2020 UNITED STATES SUPER 8 FILM & DIGITAL VIDEO FESTIVAL.  32 years in the running!  Doing its best to secure the timeless legacy of SUPER 8 film in the era of the HD invasion.  Festival dates, February 22-23, 2020.  Hosted and run by Professor Albert G. Nigrin, Executive Director/Curator of the New Jersey Film Festival and the United States Super 8 Film & Digital Video Festival, a Rutgers Film Co-op/New Jersey Media Arts Center, Program In Cinema Studies, Rutgers University.

An an amazing film festival showcasing primarily SUPER 8 film projects curated from all over the world.  18 films ranging from 3 minutes to 22 minutes.  Projected on a 20 foot screen in the comfortable and accommodating Voorhees Hall, Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey.  All films were presented with great visual accuracy and sound via hard drives and BLU-RAY disks.

The diverse ensemble of films spanned the globe – Finland, Germany, Switzerland, and the UNITED STATES, of course.  The subject matter was broad, ranging from experimental, drama, comedy, horror, and action.  There was definitely something for everyone.   Most of the SUPER 8 films were in their purest form, organic film, real celluloid.  Others mixed the organic with digital.  SUPER 8 reigned supreme, but there were still a couple of HD movies in the line-up.

This festival is a fantastic venue that supports REAL FILM, both artistically and academically.  A fun, non-pretentious festival in a great community of artists and entertainers.  A festival worth submitting to and attending.
