Review: Ragman # 6

Synopsis:

The final chapter! This issue opens with Reagan basking in the glow of sweet victory. But his team mates aren’t too happy about it and remind him that he’s still in the thick of things. They hold him down and let him know that he isn’t going to get away that easy. He’s going to help the rest of them out of this mess which they’re still embroiled in. Etrigan does battle with the chief antagonist letting him know that he’s overconfident and claimed victory too soon.

The Creative Team:

Ray Fawkes begins the final chapter on a sobering note. Z’Dargil is an overpowering threat and the hostages are still in his control as Etrigan tries to defeat him. Reagan expresses remorse over his shallow victory since his victory cost him something dear to him but his companions won’t allow him the satisfaction of regret as they encourage him to fight on. It’s a tense situation as Z’Dargil seems on the verge of victory. Fawkes builds each pulse pounding moment as we wait to see if Reagan will do the right thing or wallow in self pity. Great stuff includes Reagan realizing that the battle isn’t over and he must gather his strength one more time, even if he can’t defeat the demon he has to try and Etrigan’s fearless assault on a demon that is clearly more powerful than he is.

Inaki Miranda gives these characters an awe-inspiring energy that brings a dynamic flow to these panels and heightens our anticipation with each panel. Highlights include the looks on the hostages faces as they wonder if they’ll ever get out alive and the battle between the two demons which alone is worth the price of this issue

.
In Conclusion:

The final issue brings us closure. Sacrifices had to be made and Reagan is taking it all in as to what happened on this day. He’s torn between having a power and weather or not to keep using said power. Will he continue being the Ragman in the face of what he had to do on this day? You’ll have to read on to find out. I really enjoyed this series as our protagonist becomes a bit more human and takes in the consequences of his actions. The final chapter is a must read and Reagan’s final decision is not unexpected but poignant none the less **** (8.8 rating)
