FAN FILM REVIEW: HOOD: A Star Wars Story

I’m a geek.

There’s no getting around that, it’s a fact and I embrace it, I’m a proud geek. You know what geeks like?

Besides superheroes, sci fi, anime, comics, films, cosplay, gaming…okay we like a lot of things! Amongst those things we like are easter eggs, not the chocolate kind delivered by some rabbit. I mean those hidden little gems in the background of films and tv shows; a characters name on a computer screen, a hero’s weapon appearing in another characters movie. They’re brilliant, we search and debate them online, come up with our own theories and possible sequels…you know because we’re cool like that, we will pause and rewind to see every little detail.

What if you took this one step further? Now I know what you’re going to say, how can you take this coolness up a notch, surely that’s not possible!? Well yes, yes it is….what if rather than looking for these easter eggs (which is cool remember) what if you…(pause for dramatic effect)…..CREATED one!?

Well that’s just what HOOD: A Star Wars Story is all about. Now I’m not going to dish out spoilers at the easter egg itself because that is not the way of the geek but what I will say is this…If you love Star Wars (and who doesn’t?) If you love stop motion animation with a great robot chicken vibe and pop culture references then you are in for a treat! This film is clever and humourous, well thought out and made by a nerdy genius.

So go and watch this fantastic treasure and bask in its geeky goodness.
