These controllers highlight the simplicity of commands designed for Necrosphere, showing only a start/pause, a left and a right set of buttons. The gadget works with an USB connection in PCs. Caio’s objective was to explain how to play the game. As he mentioned during BIG Festival in São Paulo, Brazil, “I was tired of telling people you can only use left and right to play. So, I built this controller.”
Players interested in getting this special gear may compete in the Necrontroller Challenge against other speed runners. The player that posts a video or screenshot of the best finishing time wins. This competition ends September 31, 2017.
Easy to play – you use only two buttons to control your hero – but extremely hard to master, Necrosphere is a game for the toughest of the tough. Necrosphere was recently nominated for a slew of awards at Brazil’s Independent Games Festival, including Best Brazilian Game, Best Gameplay and the Innovation Award.
Necrosphere will have its official launch on Steam, Game Jolt e and itch.io on September 1, 2017. It will be available for Windows and Mac. It’s base price is set at $4,99 and the Deluxe version (which includes an ultra-difficult bonus level and the original soundtrack) at $7,98. The Linux, Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita versions are planned to be released by the final quarter of 2017.
International agent Terry Cooper (tribute to Terry Cavanaugh and Twin Peaks) has found himself in some sticky situations, but this time he may have bitten off more than he can chew. Killed in a mission that went wrong, he wakes up to find himself trapped in the Necrosphere, the otherworldly place where all souls go to die. All is not lost, however; his fellow agents have managed to discover a series of portals and have left Terry a series of notes explaining how he can escape from this hellish place. All he has to do now is survive the fiendish traps and puzzles that await him, and his quest to escape the afterlife is on…
- Innovative controls using only two buttons, left and right.
- Over 2.5 hours of tough, no filler content.
- Unforgiving maze-like levels.
- Deliciously frustrating gameplay.
Necrosphere is a challenging 2D Metroidvania game with the difficulty ramped up to the extreme. A battle for survival in the depths of hell itself, with the focus on exploring level after deviously difficult level, escaping the vast array of traps that lie in wait.
