Conventioneering company MAD Event Management has partnered with Cuba’s cultural agency Paradiso on a comic convention for the island nation, according to Trade Show Executive. Scheduled to take place May 19 through 21 in Havana, the Cuban Comic Expo is will have a one-day trade event followed by a two-day public event at the Cuba Pavilion that will be free to the public.
“We’ve been investigating the concept of producing an event in Cuba for nearly a year, and we are thrilled to receive formal approval to move forward,” said MAD CEO Marty Glynn. His company also organizes Long Beach Comic Con, Long Beach Comic Expo, New Jersey Comic Expo, and Anime Fan Fest.
“This cultural exchange program will welcome creators from the aligned pop culture worlds of comic book, animation, storytelling and other creative arts to Havana for a unique and historic event,” added Glynn. “We will be announcing more specific details over the next month and will offer people in related industries to join us as part of a familiarization tour.”
