Review: Adventures of the Super Sons #11

“You did, indeed, screw up, super sons.” – Rex Luthor

Synopsis:

This issue opens with a battle about to take place between a makeshift Justice League and the Injustice League. emotions are high and our heroes are lamenting about a missed summer vacation. Rex Luthor is unleashing everything he’s got on the Super Sons and we’re treated to tons of action as only this Dynamic Duo can take it.

The Creative Team:

Peter J. Tomasi treats us to a power-packed chapter in this latest tale of the sons of Batman and Superman. Everything but the kitchen sink is being thrown at these boys. This fight includes versions of the boy’s fathers greatest enemies. It’s a great effort to unnerve them and break their spirit. I loved how the younger versions of DC’s greatest are taking everything that’s thrown at them and rising above their fears. Great stuff includes the banter between Johnathan and Damien also the future versions of our heroes.

Barberi and Santorelli have a cartoony style that rocks this issue as only they can. The panels are all over the place and the super sons have never looked better. It’s a manic, zany thrill ride and this artistic team is having fun bringing it to us. Highlights include the splash of heroes vs. villains and the appearance of Kid Chemo.

In Conclusion:

A wild and crazy couple of guys have their hands full as Rex Luthor throws everything he can in their way as he tries to get through the portal to a planet where he will be lifted up above the fray. A divine comedy of errors awaits the super sons. That is if they can get through the portal themselves. Will the super sons be able to thwart the latest maniacal plans of Rex Luthor? To be continued. *** (8.7 rating)
