REVIEW: All-New X-Men #14

This month is a solo tale featuring a recuperating Cyclops who is on the mend from a shattered leg. Left to his own devices, a young and pent-up Scott Summers is going a bit stir crazy while the rest of the team is away on a mission. Scott decides that the best way to combat boredom is to try to solve the mystery of what Hank McCoy has been working on in his lab for countless days. His snooping takes on ridiculous proportions as he tries various methods to break into Beast’s lab.

While this is a simple tale at heart, it provides a welcomed insight into why Scott behaves the way that he does. An insight into what makes him so driven. It also ends with Scott finding his own unique and unexpected adventure in the form of an invasion of a beast from another dimension.

This series continues to roll on with the same creative team we have become accustom to. Bagley is up to his usual brilliance and Hopeless had proven that he is able to dig deeper into these iconic characters and bring out some much-needed personality.

Final Thoughts: This issue was a solid offering from a talented crew of creators.

Final Grade: 4 stars
