Like the tides this washes in and out of cool and boring. Aquaman is recuperating, villains are plotting and storylines are in full flow.
They aren’t bad storylines either, plotted well with fun characters and clear characterisation. The comic starts to fall apart in the pacing, slow, fast, slow, slower, bit faster and fuck me. It’s also dammed by some clumsy dialogue in places.
The art lacks weight, almost literally, some of the characters look like they’re floating off the ground, when they are on dry land. It’s not bad though, expressions are strong, faces are distinctive and bruises look suitable black n’ blue but the design is a bit lacking, not ugly, just no sparkle.
On the whole this felt a bit like too many plot lines being reigned in then let loose and only barely under control.
