Review: Aquaman #46
Synopsis:
The action picks up on the first page. It’s the moment the previous chapter was building too as we find our sea-faring superhero in a royal mess. He can no longer trust Caille. She is not the same person he knew at the beginning of this story. Her transformation is shocking and he looks on her with awe. Then we cut to a muscleman named Tang. He’s brooding about how the village has disgraced themselves.
The Creative Team:
Kelly Sue DeConnick Is going for broke as she heats things up for our protagonists. Aquaman still has amnesia and must do battle with a friend in order to defeat the goddess Namma. meanwhile the villagers are regretting the decision to send the two heroes into battle. A battle which is theirs to win. As a certain president once said about Viet-Nam. A thought provoking tale about defending your own as opposed to getting others to fight your battles. It’s one thing to need outside help like in The Magnificent Seven. But it’s an entirely different thing when your perfectly able to do the job yourself. You should still seek help, but don’t shirk your own responsibilities after help arrives. The villagers are coming to terms with the folly of their ways. Great Stuff includes Arthur Currey’s struggle to fight the demon without hurting the one that is possessed by said demon and Tang’s regret that he did nothing when his time came.
Rocha and Enriquez really boost DeConnick’s tale of a monarch who’s lost his way and must try to find that way again. The unleashing of the demon is incredible and the villagers remorse can clearly be seen in their faces while Andy’s (Aquaman) confusion as to his situation at hand and the concern for his friend are well displayed on his visage. Highlights include Aquaman helping to separate Caille from the demon and the splash where the demon unleashes her full fury.
In Conclusion:
The stakes are high this issue and the fate of the village of unspoken water has never been in more danger!
