REVIEW: Back to the Future # 25 Time Served part 4

Synopsis:

Part 4 opens with Joey Baines being interrogated by police. Then we flash back to the previous day. This is where we learn what got Joey incarcerated to begin with. It’s a game of cat and mouse as the protagonists and antagonists team up to find $85,000. We’re led to a cemetery via the map/painting and Marty and the gang are digging up an old grave site. An interesting ride that we’ve never seen Doc Brown’s DeLorean used in quite this way. It’s an interesting opining to this part of the story.

The Creative Team:

Barber and Gale never cease to amaze me as to how many times they can take this formula and come up with successful new ways to create adventures for our hero’s. The actors are too old to create new films (except maybe in animation, which I wish they would do more of.) and these comic books, which, other than the video games, are the only way us BTTF fans can get new stories with our favorite characters. The team has built the suspense factor as the unlikely duo of Biff and Marty, along with their friends, have to work together to find the cash, both for different reasons. It’s a great ride and the tension mounts on each page. Great stuff.

Ferreira, Fabbio and Keane bring the characters to life in a cartoony, yet serious way. It’s a surreal feel to the whole experience and the team does a great job to convey our heroes and villains emotional state in this story. They bring us panels that help to convey Barber and Gale’s tale and make this book an easy read! I had a lot of fun with this story.

In Conclusion:

A lot of hard work went into finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and there’s a nice twist that makes us wonder if Marty and the Doc really can set this situation right. It doesn’t look good for Joey Baines and the tensions between Marty and Biff threaten Joey’s future. This time Marty might have bitten off a little more than he can chew by stealing the DeLorean. This is the final issue to the story and the conclusion isn’t quite what you might expect! *** (7.8 rating)
