Batgirl #45

Let’s judge this book by its cover… Photo booth snap shots of happiness and joy. Cartoon style with very bright colours.

Now if you’re sitting comfortably we can begin… So it’s Barbara’s friends wedding and all is going great, that is until Grayson shows up to rekindle their lost romance. Unfortunately Barbara thought Dick was dead (see forever evil) and has moved on and is dating Luke Fox (Batwing).

Let me start off saying that I adore the character of Barbara Gordon, from Batgirl to Oracle and back to Batgirl, I’ve Followed her for years. The new 52 reboot was my favourite series. Sadly I lost interest and respect for this book when she donned this ridiculous cosplay and became everything Barbara is not, this tween version makes me angry. I’ve not read a page since. The controversy since this new “creative” team took over has been all over the net. From not being allowed to be shocked to see a man dressed as Batgirl to a variant cover of the Joker taken way out of context. This title needs a new team or the old team or just cancellation. It’s not working for me. That could be because it’s no longer aimed at me. It’s aimed at younger readers that want a happy, cartoony Disney princess Batgirl. Sadly that’s not what I want.

It’s with a heavy heart I have to give this a single star.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
