REVIEW: Batman Adventures/ TMNT #1

G’Day Crusaders,

This is Dodgy in the mix bringing you Batman Adventures/ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 by Matthew K. Manning with art by Jon Sommariva, Sean Parsons and Leonardo Ito. Letters by Shawn Lee. Published by DC Comics and IDW publishing.

Yes, this is the second Batman/TMNT cross-over, this time it is Batman Adventures based on the fan-boy favorite 90’s Batman the animated series and the current Nicktoons TMNT version of the Half-shell heroes.

There is a mysterious portal in a triangular shape which links both universes of Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, what is the origin of this portal? And where does it lead to?
There are scenes in the book where I could hear Kevin Conroy’s voice when Batman speaks as his dialogue honors the pace of the show. And the cheekiness of Alfred gives some LOL moments which is appreciated. Manning’s ability to blend the coexisting TMNT and Batman stories without being in disarray as it is easy to follow and satisfy fans from both franchises. There is a surprise on the last page and I suggest you read it to find out!

Now fans will get to see the talent that is Jon Sommariva aka Red J on a grander scale, his art is consistent throughout the entire issue as well as compliment both properties. You do get the feeling of the 90’s Batman series and the current TMNT show.

This is a nice looking book, a different tone from the previous run by Tynion And Williams but still worth a look! Do ya’self a favor and check it out!
