Review: BATMAN SINS OF THE FATHER #5

Synopsis:

This issue opens with Commissioner Gordon responding to the bat-signal, only…he didn’t set it off! Gordon yells at his officers that whoever did this is going to lose his job and get torn a new…That’s when Batman shows up! This chapter is intense as Deadshot threatens not just the Batman but his family as well! The antagonist is on the warpath and he’s determined that nothing will stop him.

The Creative Team:

Christos Gage has taken Deadshot and, even though he’s pissed, he proves himself to be one step ahead of our protagonist at every turn. This villain has studied our protagonist and found his pattern and method of operations. Now he plans to draw the Batman out by targeting those who are close to him. It’s an intense game of cat and mouse, Great stuff includes Bruce Wayne amping up security for his employees and the lengths that Deadshot goes to take down Batman’s friends. An intense thrill ride as only Gage can write it.

Raffaele Jenco is a great Batman artist and his panels help define the intensity of Gages words it’s gritty and realistic and an extreme pace that makes this one an excellent page turner! Highlights include Batman’s race to get back to Wayne Manor before it’s too late and the fight between hero and villain.

In Conclusion:

Batman works best as a detective, but it’s always great to see his action skills put to the test too. Here we have a villain that thinks he’s every bit Batman’s equal and so far he’s stayed one step ahead of the dark knight for this entire issue. But can he continue to stay ahead of his pursuer? How is it possible for someone to be in two places at once? That’s the question on the World’s greatest detective’s mind as he stumbles upon… to be continued! *** (8.3 rating)
