REVIEW: Black Widow #11

We all know Natasha has an unusual past. Ex-KGB, Ex-S.H.I.E.L.D agent and sometimes Avenger but is she about to face her biggest challenge yet?

There is a group of highly trained Russian female assassins on the loose. Trained by Recluse, the daughter of Dark Rooms late headmistress. Their mission is to steal 6 keys. Each key is attached to a target and that target needs to be taken out so that these killers can complete their mission.

Natasha is currently at the secret Antarctic S.H.I.E.L.D facility. It holds a controlled nuclear reactor. If it’s detonated it can wipe out all of S.H.I.E.L.D’s defenses, destroy any documents on file and wipe out S.h.i.e.l.d for good.

On inspection of the facility the assassins attack. They try to kill the scientist with Natasha but she saves her from attack. Unfortunately, the assassins get their hands on the first key.  Checking the scientist is ok our reluctant hero gives chase to the group and a battle begins.

These ladies know of the famous Black Widow so they become over-confident when fighting her. Even calling her an old woman…(can you believe that). So, in epic Black Widow style she kicks ass. She pleads with the assassins to stop what they are doing. Trying to tell them they are just pawns in a bigger game. But these ladies have been well and truly brainwashed and won’t listen to her. They fight her like a well-oiled machine, but this is nothing new to Nat, and with a little powering up and a shock to them they all end up on the floor.

Nat follows the last of them to get the key back, knowing that if they get their hands on all 6 there will be in big trouble. She finds the next assassin with a hostage.  The assassin now thinks she is safe behind this hostage, she spits insults at our Nat, knowing she won’t kill an innocent hostage. Boy, did she get it wrong. In usual Black Widow style Nat does what she does best, takes aim and shoots the assassin by shooting through the hostage ( minor wound, he’ll be ok ).  Down she goes and the keys is back in safe hands.  But for how long….

I really enjoyed reading this comic. It showed Black Widow trying to save these girls from the life she had. She knows how they trained, she knows what happens after and she want to stop it. Not only for the good of the world but I think a little bit for her own soul. Rate 4.5
