REVIEW: Blood and Gourd #2

With Halloween just around the Corner I get to review my favourite kind of book, you can’t beat a good scary story and sometimes even a bad one can be just as enjoyable.

It’s attack of the killer pumpkins (yes pumpkins) as a small farm hosts it’s annual Halloween pumpkin festival the happy attendees quickly turn their smiles upside down as the pumpkins come to life and start eating people’s heads and taking control of their bodies.

It’s a surprisingly fun read that doesn’t stop for a moment as the issue speeds along with plenty of silly one-liners and over the top gore, this book even has a couple of mysteries to hook you, like does the unicorn really talk?

The art is absolutely gorgeous, when a book looks this good it makes it so much easier to read.

I look forward to the next issue and to see what Dead Peasant produce in the future.

I can’t help but give this book a solid four stars for it’s fun story and great art. Horror books will be coming out by the dozens this month and this one deserves to be checked out.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
