REVIEW: Captain Canuck #2

G’Day Crusaders,

Dodgy86 is back in the mix with Captain Canuck # 2 by Kalman Andrasofszky (writer/co-artist), Leonard Kirk, Paris Alleyne and Rosemary Cheetham. The backup story by Ed Brisson and art by Marcus To.

Last-time we saw Canader’s savior was on the frontline and not much has changed, in the eyes of danger Captain Canuck does not look the other way…

The employees of the Equilibrium factory which belongs to Tom Evans’ (Captain Canuck) brother Michael were infected by liquid gold turning them into zombies, under the control of Mr. Gold.. who in turn – has Michael and what then of their future?

The second story picks up from the last issue, Captain Canuck is assigned to protect an oil rig in the ocean and the crew were attacked by amphibian-like humans. They do take a pretty mean foe for the Captain, unless he makes a meal out of them?
What the Cap finds may surprise him!

Andrasofszky’s pacing and art-style continues to deliver, the action scenes are flawless! There is some humor in the dialogue especially via radio-communication between the crew, it’s a great contrast yet it’s not overused which helps doesn’t distract the story. Having Tom and Michael’s story being told on different panels of the same page adds excitement to this book. You almost wanna say to Cap “he’s right there!” Overall, this story is well-played.

The back-up story, this ain’t no back up story.. this could headline it’s very own book. Imagine, its like reading those really good news paper dailies and you can’t wait to read the next issue.. That’s what you get. Brisson’s efficient pacing within a handful of pages and To’s ability to give the classic Canuck look and yet make him look gritty.

Oh Canada, you have too many anti-heroes.. here is your one true hero.
