Review: CATALYST PRIME NOBLE #17

  • When the xenophobic new director of the FBI’s Branch Seven sets his sites on super powered person, David Powell, he sees an opportunity to rein in any possible threat from the so-called ‘enhanced’ individuals with super human powers while publicly destroying the most powerful of all of them-the hero known as Noble.
  • Now framed for a devastating false flag terrorist attack and running for their lives from the real perpetrators of that crime, David and Astrid Powell have never before been this close to losing everything.
  • Written by Kevin Grenioux, Pencils Manuel Garcia, Inks by Le Beau Underwood, Colors by Chris Sotomayor, Letters Saida Temofonte.

In the previous issue ‘Noble #16’, David long with his fiance was being held and experimented on at the Taturus Detention facility in the hopes of either replicating his powers or at the least make more people who are just like him.  But when we were last left off. David and Astrid, were being prepped for extermination, leaving us off on a heft  cliff hanger.

In the current issue ‘Noble 17’ we fast forward to David and Astrid  on their way to being executed find a way to beak free of their bonds while also being aided by Secret agent Charles Cleaver.

This issue, entitled Vows, is a great set up for the character of Noble and his wife, Astrid Allen. You not only get to see Noble in action, but you get to see Astrid as she goes fight club in her bid to escape all the while facing down a horde of faceless soldiers.

Big Props to the art by Manuel Garcia (Avengers, Mystique) and Le Beau Underwood (Batwing, G.I. Joe) I was definitely getting some pre-modern age comics vibes among the panels.

The Catalyst Prime Universe continues to put out good quality material, that on their own are quite good; however, Catalyst Prime Universe still hasn’t shown me enough that warrants it being consideration for movie talk yet, but by itself Noble #17 still has good stuff.
