REVIEW: CAVE CARSON HAS A CYBERNETIC EYE #5

So this is an odd little comic, I“m confused and intrigued in equal measures. It reminds me of an 80“s sci-fi B movie, you know the ones you can decide if you like or not. The art work is like something out of a Nickelodeon cartoon show and I like that.

We begin with the story of the “The Whisperer”“. He was once revered as a god then was set free and turned out to be a demon. Who would have guessed. There is a royal family who blood line protect their people by keeping the demon buried away. Only they can open the tomb. Surprise surprise.

As they say in this comic it was only a matter of time before someone came for it. Enter Mr Borsten and his merry apocalyptic cult members. They have come to this underworld to get their hands on the whisperer and take over the world. It doesn“t seem that he has the brightest of crew members but they go along with it any way.

We then get to meet the royal family. Cave (our main good guy) is with them and he gets the low down on what has been going on in this underworld. The King tells of how they made an alliance with E Borsten and Sons from the upper world (aka ours) and swapped precious minerals for information and technology for the youth of the underworld. The king wanted the youth to have knowledge so that they wouldn“t leave, but power and greed got in the way and that“s when things fell apart. EBX (that“s what E Borsten and sons are called now) came down with a poison and this turned the children into monsters. An army ready to work for EBX, ready to kill and take over.

Fighting begins and explosions happen. The king is captured, Caves daughter and her friends appear and some of the apocalyptic cult realise that what they are doing is wrong. Together they need a plan. Cave as an Idea. He uses an antenna to boost his phone signal to get help. Who“s he gonna call????? (see now I have you singing the ghostbuster theme tune in your head ha ha) He tries the only number he thinks can help”¦but it“s not working anymore. (facepalm) now it“s time for plan B”¦.but does anyone have one?

I must say this is a weird comic. It“s a bit all over the place at times but it seems to be trying to condense too much into one issue. I think this is an unusual read and not something I would normally pick up but it was interesting to read.  So if you like your 80“s B movies this comic is for you. 3 out of 5
