REVIEW: Croak #3

Each issue of Croak has been a great thrill ride. So I was very excited for how it would finish. With this being said, I was not disappointed. This issue keeps that heart racing pace running from its previous entries. Thrill ride aside, it leaves off with more questions than answers. My only wish is that there were a bigger pay off at the end. The final blow from an onslaught thrown at the reader from issue one, is missing.

The Croak series has been very consistent with its storytelling. With a simple setup; give the reader just enough info to care and rev the speed up to 100. This issue keeps that in place and starts with a fanatic chase that slams it back to 0. In doing so it gives the much-needed break for more story needed to make us that much more intrigued. It has all paid off very well. Consider me enthralled, but I do wish there were more answers in this issue.
Again the art here is the stand out of the series. I don’t know if it’s because it is paired so well with the story or if it’s cutting and jarring line work make for a unique style. Both are true, but I’m leaning towards the former. This has been an outstanding collaboration. Both these creators are on my watch list now. Rising talent here guys, especially if they continue to pair together.
So should you buy Croak #3? If you are a fan of horror, there is no doubt. I recommend picking up the two back issues as well. Not so much for learning all the extra details but for going on this great thrill ride, from start to finish. I expect more Croak and am anxiously awaiting it. 4/5
