REVIEW: DEADPOOL ASSASSIN #4 (OF 6)

Synopsis:

This issue opens with the leader of the Assassins Guild on a rant about how she wants Wade Wilson dead, who does he think he is? She follows this by listing a series of missions with their appropriate fees. Our hero, in the meantime is in his own fight along with his trusty sidekick together they take on Man-Thing and a Jabba the Hut knock off that promises that he can make Wade Wilson a star.

The Creative Team:

Cullen Bunn does an effective job juggling between the Assassins guild and Deadpool’s own exploits. As always there“s hilarious moments when Wilson breaks the fourth wall to converse with us, the reader. And he lets us know that he“s taking as many missions as he can right now to have money ahead for”¦ let“s just say a special time (no spoilers.) Action scene after action scene ensues as he rings up the money. The tension mounts as our anti-hero acquires varied objects from different Marvel characters. An interesting narrative made more interesting because of Deadpool’s reasoning. Great stuff includes Clarice discovering what her husband“s been hiding all these years and the arrival of some not so nice guys as Jack discovers that his warning system is down.

Mark Bagley, John Dell and Roberto Poggi bring us some real smooth panels as we jump from mission to mission, they make it look easy to steal from some of Marvel“s best. The pacing is fast and carefree as we“ve come to expect from a Deadpool comic. Highlights include Deadpool stealing Ghost Rider“s bike and the fight with Jack-O-Lantern.

In Conclusion:

Some readers might be upset with Deadpool’s ultimate goal as to why he“s taking on so many missions, but hey, that“s life and Cullen Bunn knows how to evoke emotion in the hearts of comic book readers. Wade Wilson must save Jack and Clarice from a whole army of assassins and where they find sanctuary isn“t much better than facing the assassins as we head to”¦be continued! (9.2)
