Review: Empty Man #5

  • The Empty Man disease is going viral in more ways than one, as a deadly enemy taps into the nation’s television signals to broadcast their message.

Folklore around the world, describe shadowy spiritual beings or supernatural entities such as shades of the underworld, and various shadowy creatures have been a common theme. In America we have more than a few from the Moth man, Slender Man, and the most recent Momo. No one really agrees on the circumstance around these creatures only that at some point, if they come across their path, they will compel you to do something horrible.

In Empty Man #4 Cullen Bunn has bravely tried to answer a few questions ”¦What is that is compelling the populace to act in such a way? Are they a shared sickness? Are they merely shared hallucinations? Or are they real? Possible aliens from another world? Are they Demons? What do they want? But masterfully answered none of them and raised even more questions.
In Empty Man #5 we get more details but not any real answers. One is that whatever this is, it’s pre-historic old. Also it wants to be known and what’s your attention. The third thing is that inexplicably people in senior government leadership positions and law enforcement have been trying to cover up the reality of the Empty Man incidents. If Cullen Bunn’s intention was “to write about a terror whose motivations can barely be comprehended, and causes unease and terror in a general population [ and myself] he has greatly succeeded. As far as art, if Jesus Hervas doesn’t get nominated for an award this year for this interior work I am going to call shenanigans

What’s Next:
On February 9, 2016, it was announced that 20th Century Fox acquired the graphic novel The Empty Man from Boom! Studios for a feature film, with David Prior hired to write and direct the film. James Badge Dale was hired to star in the film for the lead role as an ex-cop, plagued by the violent death of his wife and son, tries to find a missing girl, which will probably based of the first volume of the series.

Empty Man Vol 2 #5  comes in two covers: Cover A Regular Vanesa R Del Rey Cover; Empty Man Vol 2 #5 Cover B Variant Jesus Hervas,  I like Vanesa Del Rey’s Style but I like the Hervas cover here. It’s a shame it’s not a virgin cover .
