Review: Eve #3

EVE #3 (OF 5) CVR A ANINDITOStory Recap:

Eve, an eleven-year-old girl wakes up twenty years in the future.  She has been sleeping in a hyper sleep chamber, and the last thing she remembers is being raised by her father.  Dr. Andrews was not around to wake her up (he is on a space station); however, instead she was greeted by a robot called E92, that has taken the form of one of her most beloved childhood toys, her Teddy Bear. So far, the full story has not been unveiled, but it appears that Eve has been awaken during a Zombie Apocalypse.

Apparently had contingency plans, for the end of the world, and one of them was for Eve as the last survivor to restart the world using seeds from a storage vault.  One their way to the vault the have encountered citied underwater, and zombies, and Kids. One of them named Martina has agreed to aid Eve, and escort her along on this mission.

Art:

The artistic team consist of Jo Mi-Gyeong, colored by Brittany Peer, Lettered by Andworld.  This team does not know the meaning of dull panel.  Each one has something going on to pick apart. For those who are wondering this probably should not be marketed toward children unless you are going for the ‘Five Nights at Freddys’ crowd.

Script:

Written by Victor LaValle.  So far, the dialogue for Eve has been amazing. I love the approach of letting the reader discover the world right along with Eve.  Moreover, you have give big props to a particular narrative ploy of keeping it moving.  I am maxed out on post-apocalyptic stories that do not bring anything new, and when the children showed up, I was afraid that the story would fall back into some Mad Max tropes. Eve #3 stayed clear perfectly.  It dropped of more info to world build and then sent Eve and the reader on our way.

Speculation Outlook:

In issue #3 there are a lot of 1st appearances.  The speculative money remains with issue #1 Eve 1 Inhyuk Lee Virgin Variant. A post-apocalyptic world with Zombies, and Killer robots. I dare someone to tell me that would not make a great script.  Just give it two years.
