REVIEW: Flash #71

Ӣ Flash 71 year one written by Joshua Williamson and Howard Porter
Colorist is hi-fi.
Ӣ Barry Allen is transported to a dystopian future where he meets up with his future self

It’s been over 3 months since Dan DiDio, publisher of DC Comics told retailers that DC Comics would be cutting their publishing numbers back, by a further ten to fifteen percent, as that“s what he believes the market can bear. So it was going to be interesting to see what direction DC is going to take some of their flagship characters.

YEAR ONE story arc finally starts in THE FLASH #70 which retold the story of how Barry Allen became the Flashh, and how he came to terms with newly found powers. On his quest to find his top speed, he somehow stumbled into the a dystopian Future, in which Crystal City was run by the Turtle. And he runs into a man wearing a Flash costume

In Flash #71 it’s revealed the other Flash is just an older version of Barry Allen, and all the growing pains that Barry is going thru will eventually be figured out. That includes who killed Barry’s Mother. But they don’t have time to catch-up because they have to deal with the Turtle.

The art and colors by Hifi are absolutely awesome . The action runs of the panels giving the appearance of fast and fluid motion. The look of the future Flash Barry Allen and the Turtle look awesome. Just a little perplexed…since when did bad guys start wearing sandals?

FLASH #71 comes in two covers the Cover A was drawn by Porter and Hifi and the Cover B was drawn by Derrick Chew.
