Review: Green Lantern #2

The Green Lantern books continues to be the among the best ongoing title for DC comics.  In the last two years the changes to how the Green Lantern Corp, how it works has been phenomenal.

Story Thus Far:

In the last issue, Green Lantern #1, the Oans successfully became part of the United Planets Federation. At the same time OA was attacked by terrorist, leading to the death of Koyos.  In this issue, the Green Lantern Corps has been restructured to more efficiently conducts its mission within the United Planets. Its first mission was for 1,001 Green Lantern to investigate of the Dark Sectors.

Dialogue:

The interesting dialogue happens during the funeral, as the Oans describe what death really means. There is the usual trope of “death is only the beginning” but the explanation up to that point changes the meaning to something different.

Art:

Art by Dexter Soy and Marco Santucci.  There scope of destruction, and operations seemed to be common themes. I may be missing something, but without proper context to what some of the building and objects were. Which is crucial because I can tell the places were important.

This story probably should have been the 1st issue. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed Green Lantern #2.  The ending has a real OMG moment.

Note to Comic Speculators:

There are so many DCEU projects including the Green Lantern Corps to pick from.  The Guy Gardner, Green Lantern series for HBO will be starring Finn Wittrock. Guy Gardner’s first appearance in Green Lantern #59.  Green Lantern Corps remains in development and it will feature John Stewart as the protagonist (Green Lantern #87).  Something to keep am eye on down the line is Keli Quintela (Young Justice Vol 3 #1) for projects down the line.  I love the whole conflict and challenge of her becoming a Green Lantern.

Green Lantern #2 will have two covers: Cover A CHANG ($4.99); and Cover B,

Cvr B Hitch Cardstock Var ($5.99).
