REVIEW: In Hell we Fight Issue 4

In Hell We Fight Issue four is written and lettered by John Layman. You will know John from his time at Marvel writing for titles like X-Men Unlimited, Fantastic Four, Gambit, Amazing Spiderman Annual and more. He also has written several creator owned titles with Image Comics such as puffed, and Chew. Chew was nominated for two Harvey Awards, two Eagles Awards, and a winning Eisner Award.

John’s latest created owned comic is In Hell We Fight. A story that follows four main characters, all of which have found themselves in hell. What we come to find out is that you can still die in hell and three of the characters have died, several times in hell. After each death, they then experience a deeper part of hell. These four characters come together with a demon to form a friendship and they are working to find a way out of hell. There is a twist I will save for you the reader!

The story is unique to say the least. There is some horror, lots of humor, and some fun action along the way. All together this is a great story that really makes you think, and issue four is no exception. The art is vibrant and works well with the story.

The art is done by Jok, an Argentinian artist that founded his own publishing company in which 15 titles in the Argentine market were produced. In the US Jok has been published in Heavy Metal, Titan, and Image. His work can be found in England, Spain, China, Italy, and all over South America.
