Review: Inkblot #12
A hidden gem about a time traveling cat;
Story Thus far:
In the previous issue of Inkblot #11, the story established that the cat has the magical ability to transport itself to wherever it wanted to be. That includes the ability to travel back in time to the Pleistocene era. Right now, the theory is that the cat is not a cat, but in fact a piece of the Void.
Issue #12 picks back up with the Seeker (1st app Inkblot #1) trying to coax cat, to use its powers. Which it does, just not the way she was hoping for. It had already been established that the cat can travel to different dimension and realm. Now we know that it can carry people along with him. Also, that his capability to dimension travel includes the realm of the dead.

The problem is that issue #11 had me hype with speculation about the cat, but in this issue, it got away from that. The talk about the Void reminds me of the Donny, Cate King in Black Event . It would have been awesome to see the Void explored here even more, but alas that was not meant to be. This issue did very well in showing the breadth of the cat’s power and leaving most of the background narrative out of it. But gauging from the last pages, they want to gravitate back to the main story. Seriously even though this was better than most of the things this week, I will wait till the Graphic novel comes out to read the rest of this amazing story.
Art:
I can confidently say that the art is the weakest part of the issue. It’s not because of the technique, it because the concepts were rushed. For example, the main character gets crushed to death. Normally, there would be a pause to signify how important that is or that would be the last panel of the issue. But here it’s just a side note, to something I felt was less significant. I’m not a fan of the type of art technique for periodicals, but this will be amazing when it comes out in graphical novel form

Speculation:
I can see a future in this book as a series, surrounding the cat. The thing that’s making readers stay away is the other main characters and the drama. Which are boring. Keep giving me a time traveling inter-dimensional cat.
