REVIEW: Justice League #12

Synopsis:

This Issue begins at the Gulf of Mexico with the Trawler 12 in some stormy waters. The captain of this ship is seeking a fortune in treasure as the waters start getting rough and the tiny ship is tossed. Meanwhile, Manta is trying to take control of Flash mentally and Flash doesn’t know if he can resist. The action picks up to the tenth level in this awesome issue.

The Creative Team:

James Tynion gives our heroes no time to rest! The Legion of Doom is pulling out all the stops as they seek to destroy our heroes. The Legion has broken into the Hall of Justice and is bent on taken something from the trophy room that will increase their power. What will draw the reader into this story is the sheer audacity of the antagonists and seeing Batman become a one-man justice league as he dons some kind of Hulk-buster like armor. Great stuff includes Batman taking out Gorilla Grodd and Poseidon himself showing up to assist Arthur Curry.

Frazer Irving and Bruno Redondo have really outdone themselves with this issue! When we’re on earth we get a traditional style of art which really captures each hero and villain in their best modes, from the maniacal grin of the Joker to the no-nonsense seriousness of Batman’s expression, each character is captured in a good way and what we’ve come to expect from both our heroes and villains. Then when we’re in Poseidon’s realm, were treated to an abstract style of art that truly fits the characters of Greek mythology. Highlights include the splash with the graveyard of the gods and the battle between Batman and the Legion of Doom.

In Conclusion:

There is so much going on in this issue I just couldn’t put it down! Well paced action with a twist or two plus a special guest strange sorcerer that we haven’t seen in a while keeps us glued to every page. And just when you think it couldn’t get any more intense the Atlanteans release… to be continued! **** (9.3 rating)
