REVIEW: King Kong The Great War Issue 2
King Kong The Great War issue 2 starts with the second day of German soldiers that have been stranded on an island after being shipwrecked the day before. They are in the Pacific Islands and the year is 1917 during World War 1.
Up to this point many lives have been lost as these soldiers look for shelter in a place that is covered by vegetation. In the distance there is strange noises coming from animals, one in particular is a unique sound that these men have never heard before. In a story of survival, many obstacles appear in their path bringing tragedy, fear, and a strong sense of anxiety not knowing what is coming next.
Alex has done a great job on pacing throughout the first two issues. There is a sense of drama coupled with action and mystery. These first issues have been interesting and engaging leaving room for a desire of more. We all know what is coming, but the excitement of getting there is real.
Written by Alex Cox, British filmmaker, writer of over 40 books, including comic books for John Carter and King Kong to name a few.
Art has been done by Tommaso Bianchi whom has worked on Barbarella in addition to King Kong.
