Review: Kiss Zombies #3

“I don’t think we gave up on the world, I think the world gave up on us!” – Catman

Synopsis:

This issue opens in New Detroit. The fearless leader is watching the oncoming horde of flesh-eaters as they grow in numbers and threaten to break down the wall. Meanwhile, the Kings of the Nighttime World are forced to take shelter in an old barn. But this time they have more to worry about than just zombies!

The Creative Team:

Ethan Sacks has upped the stakes as he introduces a new antagonist into the mix. It’s intense excitement as our heroes are surrounded. The danger is encroaching from all sides. I enjoyed how the story seems to put our heroes in a situation that they can’t possibly get out of. The situation seems dire and it will be interesting to see how they succeed against the odds. Great stuff includes how the kiss team members work together as a team. They’re like a Fantastic Four with make-up. Also, Crusher’s sobering response when presented with a gift.

Rodney buchemi delivers some exciting chase and horror scenes in a book filled with apprehension. This volume is a nonstop rollercoaster ride and each panel conveys a sense of foreboding. The villains are well-conceived and the heroes are badass! Highlights include the splash page of zombies and Crushers’ surprise response to his teammates.

In Conclusion:

This story gets better with every issue. It’s so refreshing to see Kiss members as part of the tale and not just guest stars in a title that bears their name. I love how the creators treat our make-up clad rockers and the different crises that they must overcome with their desperate companions in order to find their way back home with the legions of hell on their trail. It all comes crashing down as Crusher…to be continued. **** (9.1 rating)
