Review: POSSESSIVE #1 (OF 3)

Possessive explores the lived experience of less well-off, middle-aged man and how his encounter with a paranormal activity changes it.

Story Thus far:

Todd is a middle aged artist that is currently in between projects. He is married with kids that adore him, but they are currently separated while he works out some issues. He is working on his Alcoholic condition, but he is still on step one. To top it all Todd is the owner of a new home, but it happens to be the most haunted house in town.

Art:

Zenescope artist continue to turn in great work. The art team for Possessive #1 consist of Eduardo Garcia, pencils; Robby Bevard, colors; Carlos M. Mangual, on Letters.

Script:

It hits hard. This is without a doubt Zenescope’s darkest title yet. The attempt at comedic masks the dark nature of what’s actually happening.  Those who are not out of touch will mistake the Alcoholism, as a sign that Todd is a loser or Buffoon but there is so much going on that Todd is most likely using the alcohol as, a balm. Subliminally hidden in the panels are a few facts: Middle-aged men are more likely to die by suicide than any other age group. There are range of factors that can play a role in suicide risk for middle-aged men, including: Personality traits, Challenges of mid-life, Relationship breakdown, Socio-economic factors. Possessive #1 does very well in exploring the lived experience of less well-off, middle-aged man and how his encounter with a paranormal activity changes it.

Long or Short?:

The premise would be a great script, and hopefully it gets some attention soon. It reminds me of the film “The Girl in the Room”, but with way better writing and development of characters Hopefully by platform other then NETFLIX or WB. Overall Zenescope has been cranking out some quality but it still needs more adapted content before it can gain speculator trust. So far only one property has seen the light of the day (Van Helsing Tv Series) The rest of the properties that have been licensed for adaption have been MIA I would go long on Possessive #1.

SCORE: 4/5
