Let’s judge this book by its cover… At first glance this looks like nothing more than a beautiful field of sunflowers, look a little closer and the sinister images of the dead appear. It’s done very well, the whole scene including the farm houses have far more detail then you would expect.

CJ has traveled to the desert in search of answers about her daughter from an ancient Egyptian looking couple, these two she believes knows the whereabouts of Rush Bridge. Answers come at a price and CJ intends to pay no matter what. Sand storms and cryptic warning await as CJ continues to learn slowly where her daughter is.

This book takes mystery to a new level, what should be a simply who did it and where is she feels more like an end of the world, gods and monsters type tale. At times it feels a little slow, but that’s because there are quite a few pages (as beautiful as they are) without text. The art is very smooth, almost soothing at times, the earth tones compliment the story and overall feel. The character of CJ feels very real, a mother that will stop at nothing to find her child, that’s why you believe it when she drinks without question from a mystery cup or randomly follows a stranger promising answers, she cares more about her daughter than herself and that feels very real. This book is written very well and the mystery is such a head scratcher you want to continue your journey with CJ to get the answers.

Check out these pages to see what I mean about the lovely tones.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
