REVIEW: Teen Titans #15

Synopsis:

This issue opens with our heroes down! An easy target for the enemy. Robin is there to pick up the pieces then finds the boy of steel.  Together they ponder the events of the previous issue and what must be done to set things right. A little bit of introspection and Superboy wonders if he’s responsible for what happened a good introduction to this issue recoup’s what happened last issue and sets our heroes on the path of their foes.

The Creative Team:

Tomasi and Gleason bring out the best in our heroes. Robin, who is probably still woozy after the last issue, gets his act together rather quickly and finds Superboy. they bring for the last son of Krypton’s offspring the same fear his father always had, accidently hurting or killing innocent people. It’s a nice touch in an issue loaded with destruction. The writers keep us on our toes as we jump to the Teen’s of Tomorrow’s headquarters, both teams are seeking Tim Drake, hoping to set the course of time back on its right path. Drake finally turns up and tries to convince our Titans that Superboy has to die. this brings about added pressure as Tim Drake threatens to also kill anyone that isn’t with him. It’s a good stand-off leading me to declare that this issue is great stuff!

Benes, Jimenez and Friend continue to give us their best work in this title. The splash featuring the first appearance of Tim Drake is a plus as they give us a determined anti-hero ready to take on those he perceives are his enemy. He even calls himself a savior in the same page. The looks on our heroes faces as they disagree on the events of the day are serious and the tension is seen, even as we realize that these two are fast friends. Great emotional catharsis is rendered as the young boys with super powers show us their friendship through this artistic exercise.

In conclusion:

The best villain in any piece thinks he’s doing what’s right and this issue is no exception, our Tim Drake is doing what he feels is for the good of all involved. It’ll take two teams of Titans to bring him down, if they can bring him down. He exhibits the determination of a man on a holy mission and will not let anything stand in his way! This issue ends with our heroes rebuilding their headquarters when…all of a sudden…Too be continued! ***1/2 (8.7 rating.)
