REVIEW: TMNT Amazing Adventures: Carmelo Anthony Special

G“Day Crusaders,

This is Dodgy86 in the mix bringing you Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amazing Adventures, Carmelo Anthony Special by Matthew K. Manning with art by Chad Thomas.

The heroes in a half shell are gearing up to an NBA Basketball Game to watch their hero Carmelo Anthony in action, the All-Star small forward of the New York Knicks. The foursome are in stealth mode as they cannot afford front row tickets ”“ they use their ninja skills so they can enjoy the game from the rafter!

Meanwhile The Shredder is trying to recruit the perfect minion; Baxter Stockman creates a mutagen that will match an athlete in terms of strength and endurance. Rocksteady and Bebop are summoned by The Shredder to find the suitable specimen, behold the ”˜Carmadello!?“

This book takes the roots of how TMNT books looked under Archie Comic“s publication in the late 1980s and the mid 90s. It is filled with safe humor that is suitable for children and yes it is harmless; there is stimulation as it is too simple for adults to enjoy. Including immature jokes and the obvious conclusion… It may have worked better in the TV series.

The art is the highlight of this book including the Jon Sommariva“s cover.

It appears Melo cannot win on the court – his comic debut? Well, the next season is only 6 months away..
