Review: UNITED STATES CAPTAIN AMERICA #3 (OF 5)

Story Thus far:

Captain America was ambushed, and his Shield and Identity has been stolen.

The perpetrator is a speedster wearing his costume and has been trans versing the country using Captain America’s ’s shield to commit terror attack and anyone using the Captain America moniker.  Therefore,  Steve and Sam Wilson, A.K.A. the Falcon, have been hot on the trail of the imposter to stop him while also meeting the network of “Captain Americas”.

In the current issue of UNITED STATES CAPTAIN AMERICA #3 , their adventure takes them to Kansas where they find another piece of the network, Joe Gomez.  Joe Gomez is member of the Kickapoo people, and fan of Captain America.  Joe turns out to be a crucial asset, as he can give Steve Rodgers and Falcon crucial information that leads to the next target.

Art:

Technically the techniques used are impressive.  The art team for UNITED STATES CAPTAIN AMERICA #3 consist of: Dale Eaglesham, David Cutler, Roberto Poggi, and coloring by  Matt Milla.  This one is a matter of taste. I am a big stickler for accuracy.  So that’s why I question the Joe Gomez combat uniform design. The team is getting ready to go up against villains that have access to dynamite.  Is it realistic or even wise to go into a fight with Aboriginal ceremonial dress? I know James Bond went into a fight with a tuxedo on, but a least he didn’t try and deflect bullets with a shield made of rawhide.

Script:

This one is a letter to Marvel, please set these writers free!  I know there have been to many cranky old readers complaining about politics in comics, but this is a Captain America comic, about a Native American.  This could have been good.  Instead, I find myself wondering about the need for its existence.

SCORE: 2.5 stars out of 5

Speculation:

Marvel has had Native American characters, that have the wore the red, white, and blue.  So, I would rather pick those up than this one quite frankly.  I might be more intrigued if Marvel, let Darcie Little Badger, have a series, and truly lets her get into it.  Until then this a hard pass
