Review: Void Trip #2 is a strange journey worth taking

I“m not sure there has ever been a more aptly named comic than Void Trip. This new offering from Image comics is one heck of a fun trip. In this second issue of the comic, we find main characters Ana and Gabe in the midst of their journey to the planet Euphoria. We are presented with a definite “on my way to Burning Man”“ feel to the story as the two find themselves camping in a desert landscape and Ana debates her self-worth with an other worldly beret clad creature. Do I have your attention yet? If not, then let me share with you the fact that they are being hunted by a robot with a God complex? Now I have your attention right?

Ryan O“Sullivan (Writer) weaves a very loose story together to give us enough of a cohesive stream of consciousness that we can keep up with the thoughts going through his mind as he wrote it. This is part of the beauty of the story. It allows the reader to wander a bit, but brings them back when it needs to. I did read the issue three times to make sure I didn“t miss any important plot points, but I found that as part of the fun with this unique comic. As I young teen, I also watched The Wall over and over looking for the same thing, and I loved that.

Plaid Klaus (Artist) draws from classic sci-fi masters such as Frank Kelly Freas with the work they“ve done on this issue. The art is clean, and the panels convey the trippy vibe given off by the story quite well.

Void Trip is a cosmic roller coaster of a comic with endless loops and excitement. If you like robots driving hot rods across the galaxy, then this is a book you need to check out. It“s a little crazy, and a lot of fun.
