Tom King & Clay Mann to Helm New Batman/Catwoman Comic

Tom King, the long-time helm of the Batman run after Rebirth, will be launching a new comic featuring the caped crusader. Coming with him on the run is artist Clay Mann, who has previously worked on Heroes in Crisis, Poison Ivy, and King’s own Batman run.

The new comic will follow Catwoman and Batman and will likely continue to provide insight into their relationship after their canceled wedding.

Tom King’s take on the Dark Knight has been…divisive, to say the least. Fans can’t seem to make up their mind about his writing choices, and many seem to outright despise and love what he’s doing all at the same time. It’s all very confusing.

King’s run of Batman comics has had some stellar moments, though. One of the most notable plot arcs was I Am Bane. No spoilers here, but it is one of the most brutal and exciting arcs to come from the character. It is right up there with Scott Snyder’s “Court of Owls” arc.

Tom King is excited for the arc, though. As he said in an interview:

“…This will be a comic about what the best Batman comics are always been about, how our greatest hero turns fear into bravery, pain into hope, trauma into love. It“s the story I always wanted to tell, and I“m telling it with the man I consider to be the greatest artist in comics, my brother Clay Mann.”

While King works on Batman/Catwoman, the feline-loving anti-hero is continuing her solo comic as well. The comic will continue to run under writer Joelle Jones. Meanwhile, Batman will be restarting at Issue #1 with a new creative team, as yet to be announced.

Only time can tell what these new storylines will bring, and King promises to bring his run to an exciting close.

Batman is an icon in pop culture, and that’s why his fans take him so seriously. His popularity makes sense too. While certain writers make him overly broody, many readers connect with Batman on a personal level. The trauma he experienced as a child and even in his adult life has made him who he is, and fans see that in nearly every issue.

That’s why Batman continues to permeate every part of our culture. The Dark Knight is considered one of the best superhero films of all time, and the Arkham video games consistently received accolades and awards. Batman even features in iGaming titles, such as the Batman slot game by NextGen and the Justice League slot game designed by Playtech. These games have boosted the popularity of online casinos that feature on comparison sites such as Bonus.ca, which provide offers on these slots and also allow players to choose from the best online scratch games and utilize the best bonuses available.

It will still be a while before we can read the Batman/Catwoman line, though. While there are no official dates, King still has to finish his Batman line, which will come to an end this summer. That being said, we should have plenty of great Batman stories heading into 2020.
