The Virtual Fleet Week was a four hour event that took place in the virtual New York City harbor parading down the Hudson River. It was streamed on World of Warships Twitch, YouTube and Steam channels with 44,000 people tuning in for the event.

The World of Warships“ Virtual Fleet Week featured the most iconic U.S. warships, including the famed USS Midway, a virtual airshow, and historical footage commemorating soldier homecomings, veteran story sessions and more. A special keynote speech was delivered by Chief Executive Officer of the United States Naval Institute, Vice Admiral Peter Daly, USN (Ret.).

“It was an honor to create Virtual Fleet Week to celebrate the U.S. Navy and the men and women who have served in uniform throughout all the branches of the armed forces. We“d like to thank all those who tuned-in and donated to the Wounded Warrior Project,”“ said Artur Plociennik, World of Warships“ Regional Publishing Director. “It“s important to continue to educate and inform new generations of gamers on the accomplishments of the Navy and the contributions of those who served, especially as we near Veterans Day.”“

The program was co-hosted by Dr. Geoffrey Wawro, Professor of Military History at the University of North Texas (UNT) and Director of the UNT Military History Center. Museum representatives from USS Iowa, USS Midway, USS Lexington and Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum joined to share interesting stories about their ships along with several Navy veterans such as John Wolfinbarger, Carl Reismanm, Bill Huber who all served aboard the USS Iowa between 1943-1945.
